Finalists for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Small-Business Person of the Year Award for 2003 include Randall Pierce of Pierce & Pierce Millwork, Mark Tibbetts of the Tibs Group, Marsha Anderson Bomar of Street Smarts, Jimmy Kennedy of Jim Anderson & Co. and Bruce and Dee Arnett of Carnett's Car Washes.
The winner will be recognized during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. June 25 at the 1818 Club, 6500 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
The keynote speaker will be Phil Jacobs, president
of Georgia Operations for BellSouth. Scholarship
awards, and an "Ethics in Business" award
will also be presented.
The Gwinnett Chamber recognizes community entrepreneurs who are on the leading edge of innovation and progress each year. An estimated 30 million small businesses in America employ more than half the country's private work force, create three of every four jobs and generate a majority of American innovations, chamber officials said.
Selection criteria for the award include staying power,
growth in number of employees, increase in sales and/or
unit volume, current and past financial reports, innovative
product or service, response to adversity and evidence
of contributions to the community. Selection committee
members include Glenda Arthur, Robert Andoh, Richard
Chandler, Bill Russell and Cathy Petty Nichols.
